Space Software Engineering Internship (paid)

Graduate with the skills necessary to revolutionise the future of satellite imaging.

Arlula is changing the way earth observation data is accessed and managed. Satellite imagery and related data are used across climate management, agriculture, mining, defence and journalism, helping people understand changes to our planet as seen from space.

We are looking for final-year students or recent graduates to take ownership of expanding our constellation orchestration product’s ground station support over a focused 12-week project. You will work across the full software lifecycle: research, design, build, test and release.

As part of our internship program, we will provide educational opportunities to help you upskill in areas such as:

  • Full stack development with Go and Typescript,
  • Software design and delivery,
  • Astrodynamics and RF communications systems modelling,
  • Collaboration as part of an agile engineering team in a fast paced startup environment.

The Project

Your core deliverable is expanding Arlula's ground station support inside our constellation orchestration product, with hands-on astrodynamics and API development work at its centre.

Along the way you will also get exposure to adjacent areas of the platform, including attitude systems, machine learning, and UI development, so you leave with a broad picture of how a space software product fits together.

Parts of this work will require self-guided research with support from our team.

TITLE: Space Software Engineer Intern.

About Arlula

Arlula is a fast growing space technology startup.

We facilitate organisations and individuals managing their growing bodies of earth observation data, delivering better utilisation of these unique assets. This support has allowed our customers to build new types of geospatial tools and insight engines that simply weren’t feasible without scaled, automated data management tools. Fundamentally we are building an automated solution that is disrupting entrenched industry practices that traditionally limits who can access this unique type of data.

We are passionate about creating new commercial opportunities in a rapidly evolving space industry. We work with a range of international space agencies including NASA and ESA, while partnering with commercial satellite operators such as Vantor, Planet and emerging operators. Our customers utilise our solutions across a range of industries for tasks such as climate and bushfire monitoring, insurance assessment, environmental planning and journalism to simplify both their acquisition and management needs.
